perzine about late diagnosed autism
“imma high tension wire” is my first perzine, a very personal story of my life as a late diagnosed AuDHD lil guy who struggles with why everything insists on making noise, human connection, and having a stable sense of self. Interspersed with my own original art and written to explain my existence and daily struggles to my family, I hope this helps other people like me feel seen.
the design of this zine is based on a construction/maintenance practice called lockout/tagout (LOTO), where when something electrical is under maintenance and could be dangerous to interact with, a tag is placed on the electrical box warning others to keep away. I like that analogy, and it matches the concept throughout the zine of my brain as a malfunctioning electrical system that needs a teensy bit of maintenance.
